Senior Electronic Design Engineer

Fixed Term – ASAP for 30 months

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Electronic Design Engineer with the ability and confidence to manage a collaborative partnership with The University of Manchester and Lucid Group Limited. Lucid is a fast growing company that specialises in the design, and engineering development, of diagnostic and therapeutic medical and cosmetic devices.

The University of Manchester and Lucid are looking to recruit a Senior Electronic Design Engineer to undertake a 30-month project. The overall objective is to develop and prototype a series of wireless communication modules, suitable to address the challenges of current and future medical device applications.

You will become a critical and senior part of Lucid’s multidisciplinary software, electronics, mechanical and industrial design team and the position will provide you with a unique opportunity to manage a high-profile company project.

There will be opportunities to learn about the specialist requirements of medical electronics design, including direct contact with users, patients and Lucid’s customers. Project outcomes will be incorporated into practical wireless communications applications in wearable, home-use and clinic-based medical devices.

You will require a good first degree at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the field of Electronic Engineering or Physics, and either a PhD or equivalent relevant industrial experience in Electrical Engineering.

This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry.

The KTP will be based at Lucid’s new development facility, near The University of Manchester, in the Manchester Science Park. On-site facilities include a canteen, gym, secure bike storage and the Science Park presents regular seminars and events c. You will work directly with supervisors from both the University and Lucid, using the extensive facilities and resources of both organisations.
