Director Hardware Development - Munich, Germany

My client is looking for a candidate will be the strong representative of SW for the whole of Europe for the stakeholders in America.


  • Maintaining industry leadership in consistent delivery of excellent technology and keeping highest level of operational discipline
  • Manage and refine a HW development process in line with the global Engineering organization, capable of supporting multiple development locations and both internal and external resources
  • Hire, mentor, develop, and retain a competent and engaged hardware engineering staff to meet personal, professional, and corporate objectives (current development centres: Germany, Hungary and Estonia)
  • Foster and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment to motivate staff while driving process improvement and innovative solutions
  • Ensure staff has the proper equipment, tools, training, and resources to accomplish assigned tasks within defined processes and procedures, while adhering to appropriate budgets
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external suppliers, responsible for non-core development activities and/or providing temporary capacity


  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Advanced degree in engineering, business or management/leadership preferred
  • Strong knowledge of hardware development methodologies, practices, standards and process models (e.g., Automotive SPICE)
  • Knowledge of automotive audio amplifiers with advanced SOCs, DSPs and audio power stages
  • Knowledge of communication bus architectures like CAN, Ethernet/AVB as well as communication protocols
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry requirements including EMC and thermal design


  • Minimum 15 years of experience in consumer electronics embedded product development that includes:
    • 10 years of experience developing or leading development of complex, real time, embedded hardware solutions
    • 5 years of experience successfully managing a hardware engineering development organization
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas required: infotainment solutions, multiprocessor architecture, multimedia products


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in German and English
  • Proven key leadership traits and skills: collaborative work style, integrity, creativity, objectivity, assertiveness, effectiveness, responsibility, honesty, reliability, strong business acumen
  • Passionate about audio and innovation
