Operations Manager job - Supply Chain, External Manufacturing, Quality & Engineering
Work in the electronics/wireless sensors sector
Career in Oxfordshire start-up environment
Fancy working in a start-up type environment where you will need to be as operationally sound as the products they make? Do you want the kind of multi-functional challenge that requires you to wear several hats as the Operations Manager for all supply chain, external manufacturing, quality and product engineering functions? Then you could be just the kind of individual we are looking for.
I have been exclusively engaged to recruit one of the most interesting and broad roles I've ever had the pleasure of working on. Working in Oxfordshire somewhere between Oxford and Banbury, you will be taking charge of all operational aspects of this business as the Operations Director shifts their focus on to leading the Technical functions. There is definitely some work to be done to improve their current processes, as they have grown rapidly and have had their primary focus firmly on the creative side of things until now - this means your ability to implement process and make it stick of paramount importance. You will be highly organised as you balance the time constraints of your suppliers, testing requirements and clients, utilising your previous experience of gaining certifications in IECEx, CE Marking, FCC or EC RED to help guide you. You will be quality focused both internally and externally, with responsibility for a small amount of internal manufacturing (predominantly NPI or custom built varients) and additional responsibility for their external manufacturing partner's activities - where the bulk of production is likely to take place.
This is a big job for a big leader that could very easily lead to a directorship so you will need a very broad skill set underpinned by an engineering background which has been supplemented with supply chain management exposure including supplier identification & quality. You will hold the gravitas to lead a diverse team and will possess experience of taking an electrical product from concept into manufacture, including obtaining the relevant certifications. You will recognise the importance of productivity, ensuring the resources of the business are maximised and justifying the appropriate balance between bought in and manufactured components.
