Software Development Lead

Location: Manchester

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a world-leader in animation technology as a Software Development Lead.

Based in the heart of Manchester you'll be joining the company at a time of major expansion, leading the development of the next generation of animation tools and solutions for this innovative and award winning tech leader.

Main responsibilities for the Software Development Lead:

· Technically own the internal application suite

· Hands on development using C++ and Python

· Manage the migration of R&D projects into the production suite

· Capture user requirements and translate them into effective UI/UX

· Take a lead on quality software engineering practices, with a passion for standards and codes§

Work with product management to elaborate and estimate requirements, mock-up, design and prototype UI/UX solutions and plan releases.

§ Perform hands on development in C++ (and Python) as well as being responsible for application level architecture.

§ Manage the migration of R&D projects and technologies into the product suite in collaboration with our vision research team.

§ Lead on quality software engineering practices, be passionate about standards and code.

Key skills and qualifications:

· A degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related subject

· 5+ years of software application development experience

· C++ skills (preferably C++ 11/14)

· Python

· Multithreading

· Experience in an Agile environment

· Familiar with working in a continuous integration environment

· Front-End and UI/UX principles

Desirable skills of the Product Development Lead:

· An interest in the games industry

· User interface development in C++, Python & Qt

· Developing plugins for Maya

· Understanding of real-time requirements and data communications
