You will lead software engineers in developing and maintaining applications focused on the engineering design components of company products


As Development Manager your responsibilities will be:


* To guide the team in the design and architecture of the products

* To deliver projects that span specific functionality

* To oversee the formation of Scrum teams ensuring team members are allocated appropriate depending on skills, experience and development needs, providing resource estimates and monitoring of team availability

* To undertake the role of Scrum Master as and when required

* To elicite and understand the requirements, feature design, scope planning, task breakdown and estimation, code development, regular reporting, documentation and delivery of timely solutions.

* To ensure all code is fully reviewed, unit tested and documented.

* To support budget management, development ideas, solution deigns and resource estimates

* To ensure sufficient staffing levels of software developers and product specialists within the team identifying any shortfall in skills

* To be compliant with all agreed internal and external quality frameworks


Key skills of the Development Manager:


* Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or numerate subject

* Development of CAD/CAE solutions specifically around engineering design applications

* Knowledge of database driven solutions

* Knowledge of the Microsoft .NET development framework

* Highly skilled facilitator and organiser

* Proven experience of managing, leading and coaching others

* Experience of working on multi-location and multi-national software development projects

* Experience of writing software where performance and integrity are critical

* Strong management and leadership able to manage teams based in various locations

* Experience of leading high-performance technical teams

* Highly effective in a global and matrix environment

* Clear and engaging communication and presenting style

* Understand software architecture and design using Agile management

* Will challenge conventional thinking, managing risk and influencing a broad cross-section of stakeholders
