Our client is renowned for engineering excellence and has a unique opportunity for a Principal Analog IC Design Engineer to join an existing team based in Edinburgh.

The position will involve technical and project leadership, specification, design, verification, and validation of complex Analog/Mixed Signal IPs in deep sub-micron CMOS technologies for Mixed-Signal products targeted at mobile devices.

The successful candidate will be expected to manage complex analog IP developments, lead designs, mentor other team members, interface to key customers at a technical level, generate IP as well as contribute to architectural and circuit improvements in a wide range of areas. You will have a proven track record in defining and implementing innovative and optimal circuit architectures and transistor-level circuit solutions to achieve a variety of challenging noise, distortion, power consumption and cost requirements.

This is a hands on position and would suit an experienced and successful Analog/Mixed Signal IC Design Engineer with proven team/technical leadership skills who would like to make a major contribution.

The key responsibilities for the role include:

* Specification and architecture definition of analog blocks and systems.
* Taking the technical and project lead role for a key analog IP or sub-block.
* Complete design ownership from system to transistor level including overseeing physical layout.
* Problem solving and innovation and all levels of analog IP development.
* Contribute to design methodology improvements across the team.
* Mentoring and technical supervision of other engineering staff.
* Creation and protection of intellectual property.

The successful Senior Analog IC Design Engineer will be skilled at transistor and system level design preferably in nanometer CMOS technologies and will have detailed knowledge of the design flow from high-level modeling, through schematic entry, to layout and physical verification.

Experience is required in one or more of the following technical areas; Amplifier (LNAs, OTAs, and PGAs) and line driver design, Embedded power management and battery management, Low power precision analog design techniques, Data converter design (ADC/DAC), Digitally assisted analog design techniques.

Experience is required in the following design tools: Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre and/or other SPICE circuit simulators, High level modeling (e.g MATLAB), Verilog-A or Verilog-AMS, Mixed signal simulators, Calibre). Excellent verbal and written communication skills and documentation ability is required along with being able to understand and translate specs to circuit requirements. Significant customer facing experience working to understand requirements and derive optimised specifications is ideal.
