This is an exciting opportunity for a Scientist to join a growing organisation based in Oxfordshire with a focus in the areas of Sensing Technology.

This creative role will involve the design and set up of experiments, carrying out experimental development, building and optimising experimental apparatus and lab prototypes. Other responsibilities will include: Coming up with practical solutions to technical problems, interacting and working alongside customers and also some presentations.

The candidate:

*Educated to MSc, PhD or MPhil level in Physics, Physical Chemistry or Applied Sciences
oGood knowledge in mathematics, computer science and programming
*Able to work through theory independently and from first principles.
oPragmatic, able to come up with practical solutions even when theory is unclear
*Experience of carrying out experimental development, building and optimising experimental apparatus and laboratory prototypes.
*Practical minded, flexible and resourceful. Capable of setting up and running experiments.
oTrack record of controlling and automating prototypes or hardware from software.
*Willing to work in lab at Company and in the field
oWilling to travel to customer sites when required
*Interested in a customer's perspective: commercially-minded
oEnjoys interacting with, and working alongside, customers.
*Some presentation skills, e.g. presenting papers, thesis at conferences.
oReport writing, e.g. some experience of writing publications for peer-review
