My client supplies electron microscopes and other process equipment/ instrumentation in to the scientific market. They're looking for an Applications Engineer who can bridge the gap between sales and engineering, fulfilling the following responsibilities:

- Technical specification and application definition

- Testing and Development of products

- Competitor Analysis

- Demos

- Training the sales team technically to mould pricing etc

This is a customer facing role which requires around 25% travel, both domestically and internationally. The successful candidate will have:

- A technical scientific or engineering degree

- A background in a customer facing engineering role (field service, technical sales)

- Knowledge of scientific instrumentation (ideally SEMs, TEMs, vacuum pumps, plasma, evaporation or coating equipment)

- The ability to work from an office near Lewes whilst not travelling

- The willingness to travel

This is a company who are growing well and have excellent relationships in place with key OEMs. It's a diverse product portfolio and this position is pivotal to aiding sales and ensuring the technology remains cutting edge.
