This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Java Software Developer to join my prestigious client in Oxford, where you will work on an exciting new project over a 2 year fixed term contract period.

To be considered for this post the Software Developer should have:
*Degree in a relevant field such as computer science, computer engineering or maths
*Good foundations in general computer science (data structures, sorting, searching)
*Proficiency in software engineering in general and Java in particular
*Ability to develop, maintain, and evaluate a data integration and query optimization system, and to integrate software components
*Experience with relational database management systems (e.g. programmatic access, tuning, indexing)
*Experience with build systems (Maven, Ant) and source control systems (preferably git).
*The ability to create a well-document software design; an organised approach to structuring and commenting code
*Good knowledge of and attitude towards software testing, using automated unit testing techniques

Desirable experience of the Software Developer:
*Good working knowledge of C++
*Experience with designing and invoking RESTful web services
*Knowledge of database system implementation, particularly query optimization
*Experience in semantic technologies, specifically RDF and OWL
*Experience with designing and running performance tests, creation of benchmarks and use of standard database benchmarks
*Familiarity with non-relational storage systems
*Experience in using UI frameworks
