Software Tools and Integration Team Lead
Permanent
Cambridge

My very successful IoT (Internet of Things) client who, due to the planned development and need for further IoT applications, needs to grow the tools and integration activities through the addition of a Team Leader. The Team Leader must have the technical ability as well as the managerial/leadership skills, as this role will be very much hands on!

The role is to lead and develop the team of 3, which will very soon be 5, and to directly contribute as a Software Engineer. This is a Linux environment, so we are seeking Software Engineers / Developers who have experience in this area, rather than Windows. You will also be involved in complex testing of systems, so a solid understanding of this is essential for the role.

The team has 2 main functions at present, these are:

*To create, improve and maintain software tools for use in development which include network simulation, network planning, visibility / logging and build / continuous integration tools
*Using these tools and other techniques to test and integrate recent improvements to the software - this is close to development testing and is prior to delivery to system test

As Software Tools and Integration Team Lead you will have these essential skills:

*Undergraduate degree in a numerate / computer science related subject (or equivalent experience)
*Experience of leading and managing small teams / projects
*Ability to envision the essential requirements for new software tools and to drive them to implementation
*C/C++, Python in a Linux environment.
*Experience of the "full lifecycle" of software development: specification; architecture, design, documentation, coding, testing, but especially the specification and testing stages
*Knowledge of wireless communication in a development environment

Desirable skills but not essential for the Team Leader:
*Ability to learn new technologies quickly to react to changing demands
*Good system level knowledge and development experience of wireless communication systems and how they are specified and tested

If you feel you have the software engineering experience as well as the ability to lead a small team, then get in touch with Simon Allen at IC Resources to find out more.
