Deciwatt Limited seeks a contractor to join its product engineering development team. Deciwatt ( is the original developer and IP holding company of the GravityLight invention ( It operates from the central London design offices of therefore Limited (, an established international product design and engineering consultancy.

Contract: Full-time, 6 months fixed term. Commencing July 2017.

Location: London W1

Salary: ranging £20-£30K pro-rata, experience dependent.

Organisation overview / background: The GravityLight Foundation is a registered UK charity that delivers product solutions for off-grid and unconnected communities. The Foundation's first product: GravityLight GL02 is an innovative device that generates light and power to replace damaging, dangerous and expensive kerosene lamps.

Following successful international field trials, development to full-production has been achieved and GravityLight is now at Product Stage. The GL02 product was launched in Kenya in late 2016 and is being fulfilled into local distribution. The product is also available to on-grid markets through direct web sales via Amazon and others in the USA, Canada and EU.

A new development is underway which involves more sophisticated electronics and power management and we seek an electronics engineer to join the mechanical design team to support the on-going programme needs through the development of a new electro mechanical low-cost, off-grid power generator.

Skills and Experience: Degree qualified (minimum), with electronics major, with experience in digital and analogue circuit design (Power Management - Ultra-fast Li-Ion battery charging and control, State of Charge measurement). As an all-rounder, you will take a practical hands-on approach to creating PCB design layouts, prototyping and testing, design and specification for low cost manufacture, reliability analysis, and supplier liaison. Strong theoretical understanding and analytical skills are essential.

As a key member of a small development team, you will contribute to the delivery and reporting on the electronics aspects and outcomes throughout the period.
