Embedded Software Design Engineer - Northamptonshire

Experienced software engineer with very strong embedded software product design experience, coupled with a good working knowledge of modern microprocessor based electronics is now required in Northants. We are looking for an energetic and innovative software design engineer who will drive all aspects of the software development lifecycle for our clients wired and wireless telemetry products. The successful candidate will be working within a small product development team (part of a larger US company).

Candidates should ideally be educated to degree level, and should have proven experience in a commercial product development environment using several of the following skills and technologies:

*Microchip PIC application development, with particular reference to ultra-low power design techniques.
*C/C++ as well as Assembly Language programming within an 8/16 bit embedded microprocessor or micro-controller environment.
*Prior product design experience within a Telemetry and Wireless Communications setting. Familiarity with communications protocol development, and the handling of AT Command interfaces on POTS/GSM/CDMA modem devices etc.
*A good knowledge of development process tools such as IDE's, compilers, debuggers etc, and the ability to successfully utilise conventional test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters and protocol analysers.
*An understanding of microprocessor design techniques, and the ability to easily read and understand hardware design schematics.
*Good written and verbal skills, and a second European language would be an advantage.
*Willingness/ability to travel on business in both Europe, and the U.S.A.
*Full UK Driving Licence.
