Senior SMPS Design Engineer - DC/DC - AC/DC - Defence - Scotland
Situated in Scotland, the Senior Analog Hardware Design Engineer (SMPS / Power / DC-DC / AC-DC) will work for a leading Military / Defence based company. The company employs in excess of 5000 people and upholds a distinctive strength in homeland security applications.
The right candidate will be qualified to degree level or further (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (preferable) or related science (e.g. Physics) and show a demonstrable track record in industry.
Key Overall Responsibilities:
*Assume role of a Senior Hardware Engineer for new hardware module designs.
*Assume a level of ownership of agreed timescale and material module design budgets.
*Attend programme meetings.
*Provide and share detailed design advice with Lead Hardware engineer as required.
Key Technical / Day to Day Responsibilities:
*Broad exposure to design, testing, investigation, fault diagnosis and repair of complex electronics
*Knowledge of Military Electronic Systems Desirable
*Knowledge of Mixed Signal Hardware designs, linear circuit design up to 50MHz and low power PSU (DC-DC, AC-DC, SMPS etc) designs plus knowledge of applying low noise circuit design techniques throughout the process is advantageous
*Prior exposure to Mentor schematic capture, circuit simulation using Saber, LT Spice or Simetrix is desirable.
*Ability to communicate across various platforms of the business is critical as is the ability to communicate with suppliers of electrical components.

This is an office based role involving work in a lab, production area and occasionally in a clean room environment. Due to the nature of the organisation, any candidate looking to be considered must either have Security Clearance (SC) or be eligible for full Security Clearance. In addition, the candidate will need to conform to ITAR regulations and UK eyes only.
