We are looking for an experienced Electronics Design Engineer to take responsibility for the design of hardware for the next generation Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras - from design, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototype testing, compliance tests to taking the hardware into production.

Qualifications (Minimum):
Degree qualified in an Electronics related discipline.

Experience (Minimum):
Five years' experience in an industry where the technical skills outlined below have been learned and practised.

Technical Skills
Practical experience in an industrial environment of the schematic capture and PCB layout of high speed digital systems hardware, including 32 bit microprocessors and FPGAs or ASICs and associated power supplies.

Practical experience of the development and testing of prototype digital hardware, including signal integrity testing, test and debug software (C/C++) running on a Linux target. EMC compliance and experience in other environmental testing will be an advantage.

Practical experience of the transfer of hardware to a production environment, including production testing.

Ideally, practical experience of FPGA designs using VHDL (ideally using Altera FPGAs and tools).

Personal Skills
Numerate, analytical, attentive to detail, self-motivated, able to work unsupervised, keen to investigate and solve problems. Able both to supervise others and to carry out hands-on work in order to meet tight deadlines. schematic capture and PCB layout.
