Development Manager, Thames Valley
We are searching for a Development Manager to establish our client's new facility and to run and build the team. Once established, the manager will be taking responsibility for the design and development activities of this team, which is expected to comprise digital hardware, mechanical, firmware and software engineers. This responsibility will cover the entire life cycle of the product, from concept through to production and beyond.
The role will include but not be limited to:
Building the new team.
Planning, co-ordination and control of the design and development activities of the new team.
Liaising with our other Engineering teams for PCB layout functions.
Assisting in the selection and setup of the new offices.
Acting as liaison for production issues including the instigation of any remedial and corrective Engineering actions.
Accommodating customer technical support enquiries passed to the Engineering team from our Technical Support engineers.
Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 procedures and, where necessary, improving them.
Reviewing and approval of technical reference manuals and product datasheets.
Preparing proposals in response to general or customer-specific product requests.
Maintaining awareness of new technologies.
Personnel management including performance appraisals.

We are searching for a Manager with the following profile:
Good and relevant academic background
A background in high-speed digital hardware design or embedded real-time software development and project or team management.
Experience or interest in:


32/64 bit microprocessor products.
Embedded product development cycles.
The requirements of product manufacture and test.
Technical project management or project leading roles.
Thermal management issues and ideally an appreciation of ruggedised product development.


An ability to balance design, customer and production requirements.
A pro-active approach to solving and preventing problems.
An eye for product and process improvement.
The ability to communicate effectively with others within and outside the company at an engineering level.
