An opportunity has arisen to join an exciting fabless semiconductor company that is developing breakthrough solutions for the wireless connectivity market.
In this role, the Senior RF Systems Engineer will be the technical lead in the evaluation of new highly integrated Mixed Signal circuit designs in CMOS. The successful candidate will be expected to work on designs which include WLAN, GNSS, FM, NFC and audio. Much of the work will be carried out in close collaboration with analog, digital, software and packaging design teams and experience in embedded software preferably Matlab exposure is ideal.
You will be expected to gain a specialised understanding of one particular radio standard and using this detailed knowledge you will architect final test solutions and assist in the system design of future products. While a significant proportion of time will be spent working within the RF Systems Group, support to other areas of the company will be required. This will also include engagement with customers regarding technical issues.
The successful RF Systems Engineer will be enthusiastic, highly intelligent, able to think laterally and capable of paying attention to detail whilst keeping the wider system level picture in view. Consideration will be given to outstanding candidates who have little or no experience of silicon evaluation and training will be provided to the successful candidate to help broaden their knowledge and skills base.
Responsibilities will include:
* imparting experience of the RF Systems tools and techniques on others
* giving technical support and guidance to other engineers within the group
* reporting project progress to non-technical senior management
* guiding the efforts of other engineers within the group
* understanding methods for testing analogue circuits within a digital chip
* implementing test strategies and methods for new features
* assisting in the system design of future products
* writing software
Industry degree qualified (or equivalent), you will have an awareness of Analog/Digital design in Mixed Mode ASICs and Analog design tools (CMOS), knowledge of C/Matlab/Verilog and its use in a test environment, as well as experience in Analog and RF IC design and experience of solving technical problems alongside customers. In addition you will be able to lead a small team during sample evaluation.
A strong problem solver with the ability to provide technical feedback for future design processes. Depending on experience, it is likely there will also be line management responsibilities also.
