Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have significant experience designing both hardware and firmware applications. You will be a Core member of the New Product Introduction team.
You will be responsible for New Product Introduction focusing on the electronic design. This role would be dedicated to all "major developments" but also some "limited developments" activities. It would be expected that this role would be focused on electronic design and project managing the functional requirements of NPI projects from initial concept stage through to manufacture.
Key Skills and Experience:
1.Educated to Degree level or equivalent in an electronic engineering discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience (Essential)
2.Working experience in an R&D environment along with managing cross functional / cross business project teams (Essential)
3.Knowledge of how to take a raw concept design, through the design development phases and into a production environment (Essential)
4.It is expected that engineer will be able to explore "blue sky" future innovations and new technologies to expand the portfolio (Essential)
5.Experience of working within a volume manufacturing environment (desirable)
6.Experience within the Fire Industry (desirable)
7.Experience of fire system applications and installation practices (desirable)
8.Project Management
Specific Knowledge Required:
1.Proficient in designing both Hardware and Firmware applications
2.Firmware design capability - CMMI knowledge (desirable)
3.Ability to select and integrate proprietary off the shelf components into designs
4.Acoustic Horn Design principles
5.Strobe and Lens Design principles
6.Competent with and using an ERP system ideally SYSPRO or SAP
7.Fluent with using Mentor or Eagle design packages
8.Design of medium / high volume assembled electro/mechanical components
9.Design, Applications and Installation practices of Fire Detection and Control Systems
10.Primary differences between fire market requirements throughout Europe (desirable)
11.Exposure to Lean tools Six Sigma philosophies (desirable)
12.Microsoft Office applications (Essential)
13.Medium - Extensive travel to Italy
