The Sub-Section Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership and technical direction for Sub-Section programme tasks and personnel
- Establish goals for Sub-Section staff, within framework of Software ECoE technical and financial objectives
- Maintain full awareness of efforts within sub-section to assure technical quality excellence, on-time and to budget completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / programme needs
- Manage resource supply and demand for Sub-Section, including recruitment of permanent staff, placement of work at global sites and outsource of work packages to suppliers
- Support recruitment and training of apprentices, placements (interns) and graduates, to ensure pipeline of software staff
- Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organisations and within Sub-Section
- Communicate with management on technical, organisational, resource and staff issues
- Define roles and responsibilities for sub-section staff
- Conduct appraisals, performance management and participate in salary planning
- Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counselling
- Provide support council and recommendations to Software Section management
- Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within Sub-Section


- Degree from an accredited university/college or equivalent level of knowledge or experience
- Direct line management and/or programme/project leadership within an engineering environment

Desired Characteristics:

- Software team management/organization experience
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to guide and influence others
