Senior Electronic/Firmware Design Engineer - Derbyshire

My client design and manufacture a range of products that are sold all over the world.

They currently require a Senior Electronic / Firmware Design Engineer to join their R&D department in Derbyshire.

Their R&D department work on a range of projects, some are very concept / blue sky research oriented. This means they are often learning new skills and technologies to keep up with the demands from the business to develop new, innovative products. Due to this they are looking for someone with a very broad skill set within electronic design and lots of enthusiasm for R&D.

Job Responsibilities:
*Creation of innovative concepts for the use of electronics to expand or enhance their range of products.
*Plan for and deliver Continuous improvement of their current portfolio of electronic products.

Operational:
*Responsibility for taking electronic ideas from concept through feasibility into Production preparation.
*Decompose concept into functional requirements.
*Development of hardware and software architecture including determining relevant protocols.
*Programming of microprocessors or briefing, liaison and management of microprocessor programming consulting.
*Ensure conformity to relevant standards including electromagnetic conformity including liaison with testing houses where necessary.

Below is a list of skills they are interested in. They are NOT expecting someone to be an expert in all of these areas but it should give you a flavour of the type of work / projects they get involved with.

The successful candidate WILL have experience of both Hardware and Software design and ideally have a systems level knowledge of product design.

*Good understanding of RF design principles.
*Unlicensed wireless communications protocol experience such as IEEE 802.15.4 or ZigBee.
*Experience of embedded software including Firmware programming and debugging.
*System architecture design experience.
*ARM CORTEX M3 processor experience.
*Board level analogue and digital design.
